چکیده

The fall armyworm (FAW), Spodoptera frugiperda is a polyphagous and economically important insect pest originated from tropical sub-tropical parts of America. Being strong flier, climatic adaptation large host range makes it serious threat to food security. It responsible for high economic losses in many cash crops, vegetables cereals. overreliance overuse pesticides the management FAW posed problems including insecticide resistance, resurgence pests, biotype development environmental hazards. To combat these problems, most alternative use green synthesis nanoparticles biocontrol agents which have been proven as eco-friendly technology control. current study was, therefore, planned evaluate toxicity different plant based synthetic agent (Trichogramma spp.) against armyworm. Silver neem resulted highest (83%) lowest (40%) mortality 2nd instar larvae FAW. However, due silver tobacco, onion, mint, ginger datura was observed 86%, 63%, 76%, 63% 73% while 30%, 33%, 23% 16% respectively. In view findings could be recommended potential bio-based chemicals control S. frugiperda.

Identification and Characteristics of microRNAs from Army Worm, Spodoptera frugiperda Cell Line Sf21

microRNAs play important regulatory role in all intrinsic cellular functions. Amongst lepidopteran insects, miRNAs from only Bombyx mori have been studied extensively with a little focus on Spodoptera sp. In the present study, we identified a total of 226 miRNAs from Spodoptera frugiperda cell line Sf21. Of the total, 116 miRNAs were well conserved within other insects, like B. mori, Drosophila...

Cry1F Resistance in Fall Armyworm Spodoptera frugiperda: Single Gene versus Pyramided Bt Maize

Evolution of insect resistance to transgenic crops containing Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) genes is a serious threat to the sustainability of this technology. However, field resistance related to the reduced efficacy of Bt maize has not been documented in any lepidopteran pest in the mainland U.S. after 18 years of intensive Bt maize planting. Here we report compelling evidence of field resistan...

Mortality Dynamics of Spodoptera frugiperda (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) Immatures in Maize

We characterized the dynamics of mortality factors affecting immature developmental stages of the fall armyworm, Spodoptera frugiperda (J.E. Smith) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae). Multiple decrement life tables for egg and early larval stages of S. frugiperda in maize (Zea mays L.) fields were developed with and without augmentative releases of Telenomus remus Nixon (Hymenoptera: Platygastridae) from...

Green synthesis of silver nanoparticles using (Eryngium Campestre) leaf extract

Biological synthesis of metallic nanoparticles is considered as a fast, eco-friendly, affordable and easily scalable technology. Also, the nanoparticles produced by plants are very stable. In this study, the focus is on the synthesis of silver nanoparticles using extract of eryngium campestre. The effective parameters such as concentration of silver nitrate, pH, temperature and time, size and m...
